Set up MineOps for your Minecraft servers
Connect the Linux or Mac machine your Minecraft servers run on with one command, choose the servers MineOps manages and turn on alerts. No ports to open.
What you need
- A machine your Minecraft servers run on, or will run on: Linux on amd64 or arm64 with systemd and OpenSSL 3, or macOS 13 or newer (Intel or Apple silicon). A home server, a spare PC and a VPS all work.
- Outgoing HTTPS (port 443) from that machine. Nothing needs to reach it: there are no ports to open and no firewall rules to add.
- Servers you already run, in Crafty Controller, as a service, in Docker or started by hand, or none yet: MineOps can create Paper, Purpur, Folia, Fabric, vanilla, Velocity, BungeeCord and Hytale servers for you on Linux and macOS, and Bedrock servers on Linux.
1. Create an account and an organization
Sign up with your email address or with Google. An organization holds your machines, servers, team and plan, and every new one starts with 14 days of the Network plan, no card needed. The checklist on the Overview shows what is left to set up.
2. Add your machine and run one command
Under Machines, choose Add machine. Its Agent setup tab gives you one line to run on the machine:
curl -fsSL https://mineopsdash.com/install/K7P2Q9XB | shThe code in it names your machine and the agent version for an hour, and it is not a password. See what it runs opens the script first. On Linux it asks for your sudo password and sets the agent up as its own unprivileged user with a hardened service; on a Mac you run it in Terminal as yourself, and it finds your Minecraft server. The installer is checked against the release's signed checksum before it runs.
3. Approve the machine
The machine shows a six-digit code. Check that the setup page shows the same one and choose Connect. There is no token to copy: the agent makes its own key, which never leaves the machine, and connects out over HTTPS. The page follows each step as it happens.
4. Choose the servers MineOps manages
The servers the agent found are listed at the end of Agent setup and on the machine's Minecraft tab. Choose Manage for each one. The agent keeps looking, so a server you add later shows up with Add and Ignore. Starting, stopping, console, moderation, settings and backups each stay off until the machine's owner allows them; see what the agent can and cannot do.
5. Turn on alerts
On Alerts, Add recommended alerts watches every server for going offline, its agent disconnecting, crash loops, low disk space and failed backups. Then add a Discord or Slack channel under Where alerts go and press Test. The Discord alerts guide has the details.
6. Invite your team and protect your account
- Administrators invite people by email under Team, as members (who see everything) or administrators (who also operate servers). Owners also handle the console, billing and deleting the organization.
- Turn on two-step sign-in under your account, with an authenticator app or codes by email, and keep the recovery codes somewhere safe.
Next
- Schedule backups of your worlds (Plus and up).
- Watch TPS, players and uptime, and give your players a public status page.
